03.08.00 - END OF FIRST HEADLINING TOUR @ THE BORDERLINE (LONDON)

This was a trip and a half. A cunning 3 day trip to London with my girlfriend (at the time), which combined shopping, sight-seeing, and Wilt watching! After rushing to get to the Borderline to only find that I had got the doors open time wrong, we found that we had more than ample time to get our breath back and meet up with a mate for a drink. I must point out that Cormac was outside then venue chatting on a mobile phone, and it turned out he was speaking live to some local radio station presumably about the tour and that nights gig.
After patiently waiting/speaking to Wilt for the support band to finish, we took up positions near the front of a heaving crowd. I knew the gig was going to be good! Wilt came on to a great cheer, and went straight into 'Never Enough' (one of most favourite songs) the b-side from the 'It's All Over Now' single. This certainly got the crowds attention, although they stayed stationary. The album had been out at that point for about a month, so there were more people than I had ever seen before singing along. I was surprised by the number of fans who were singing even to the rarer songs, which I had difficulty in remembering the lyrics for!
The second song of the night 'Peroxatine' got the crowd going alright! For the first time I had seen at a Wilt gig there was a proper mosh! I guess the fact that the album was out helped greatly, but it set the mood for the rest of the evening! As Wilt were headlining, the setlist had been extended from it's normal, shorter, supporting length, to include such songs as 'I Found Out' and 'Never Enough', which contributed to the best Wilt gig I had seen do far! There was really nice moment at the end, where a girl in the front row asked to do the tamborine intro for 'Expedestrians', and Cormac let her!

The only bad part of the night was that we had to make a mad rush to the tube station, only to find out that there was a long wait for the next tube, which would result in us missing our train! Fortunately, the mate who we had met up with earlier than evening, very kindly went completely out of his way and gave us a lift! (cheers Phil!)
